   This video gives a good first idea of what BPD is like, in a clear, factual, empathetic and non-judgemental way, and all that in less than 8 minutes. Kudos!

   The only thing I regret is that the use of “you” sentences makes it sound like it’s adressed primarily to BPD patients. I think that people who care about someone with BPD might greatly benefit from this kind of short, matter-of-fact, non-judgemental explanation, especially since some so-called support sites (not all, but some) are really used for bashing BPD patients, encouraging resentment against them and passing on ideas that are at best caricatural and misleading, at worst downright erroneous… not forgetting some people from the very background of mental health, where the stigma against borderlines can be chief, and misinformation can even exist occasionally (I recently read absudities about BPD written by a person who was presenting herself as a psychiatric nurse).

   … oops, I wrote “non-judgemental” twice… well, I suppose that was the key phrase in my post.

   I forgot to ask: is there a DBT manual you’d recommend to someone who can’t have access to a therapist practicing DBT?

   beep… thanks for your comments. You bring up a great point regarding the need for matter-of-fact, supportive, constructive information for people who care about someone with BPD. I’ll put that on the short list for an upcoming video!

   the workbook I use a lot, and I’d recommend is Marsha Linehan’s Skills Training Manual for Treating Borderline Personality Disorder.
